Science Fair

Have you ever asked yourself a question like, "Why does my neighbor's yard look greener than mine?" That is science. Questions like that can be turned into a science project. Each year in the spring, students at RCCS begin to ask themselves question like that. They are getting ready for the annual Science Fair. All students at RCCS are required to participate in the Science Fair. This includes the youngest in Grade 1 all the way to the graduating seniors. In March, the tables in the cafeteria are turned into lab tables with all of the students displaying their projects. Students are excited as judges from the community come to question them about the project they have worked for so many months. Excitement builds as the winners are announced. Finally, the grand prize winner for each grade level is announced.

Carboard Regatta

Will a boat made entirely of cardboard be able to carry one student across the length of a swimming pool and back? High school students at RCCS will determine exactly that. Freshmen through seniors, with the aid of parents and members of the extended school community, design and build a boat made of nothing but cardboard, glue and paint. At the end of the annual pool party, the excitement mounts as the boats are presented and lined up for the race. This is an annual event which can only get better with time. The freshmen, who are now sophmores, are ready to defend their title as Cardboard Regatta Champions.

National Honor Society

RCCS is a member of the National Honor Society. Each year in the spring, students who qualify are inducted into the Honor Society. Students must have erned a 3.5 GPA and be recommended by their teachers. The National Honor Society is recognized by all colleges and universities. It is an honor to be a member.
